U.S. President Donald Trump's executive order imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court could jeopardize trials and investigations at the world’s only permanent global tribunal for war crimes and genocide.

Trump has ordered sanctions on the ICC, which wields power to prosecute individuals accused of genocide, crimes against humanity, crimes of aggression and war crimes.

The ICC pushed back against Trump's new sanctions targeting the court saying it threatens to "erode international rule of law," calling for a united front.
