Monty the Giant Schnauzer was named Best in Show Tuesday night, capping off the 149th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

NEW YORK, NY (WTVG) - A local dog and its human won big at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this week. Comet, a Shih Tzu, was the winner of the Toy Group. The 4-year-old dog took center stage at Madison Square Garden this week with its handler, Luke Ehricht, of Monclova. The judge picked Comet as winner of the Toy Group over 25 other dogs.

A 5-year-old giant schnauzer named, Monty, won the Best In Show title at the 149th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

For the first time since 2020, the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show was back at Madison Square Garden. The longstanding competition had to relocate in each of the last four years,
