Former Bayern Munich boss, Niko Kovac, is the successor to Nuri Sahin. Though he may not have the same connection to BVB as his predecessors Nuri Sahin and Edin Terzic, Niko Kovac is a familiar face in the Bundesliga.

Niko Kovac started as Borussia Dortmund coach on Sunday, with the task of leading the team back into the top regions of the Bundesliga table. Former Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg coach Kovac conducted a first training session after being confirmed as new helmsman in succession of Nuri Sahin on Wednesday night.

Coach Niko Kovac made his debut for Borussia Dortmund with a 2-1 defeat at home against VfB Stuttgart on Saturday in the Bundesliga, while champions Bayer Leverkusen were held to a goalless draw at VfL Wolfsburg.

VfB Stuttgart hope to beat Borussia Dortmund again on Saturday in the Bundesliga but coach Sebastian Hoeness has admitted that the arrival of Niko Kovac as Dortmund coach is complicating matters for them.
