An eight-year-old boy was shot and killed in Newark, New Jersey, Friday evening. An adult male was also shot during the attack near Osborne Terrace near Yates Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Police are looking for the shooter. They were taken to a hospital where the child was pronounced dead.

A man wounded by gunfire was found several blocks from where the child was killed around the same time, but officials declined to say whether the shootings were related.

The 9-year-old, identified as Yasin Morrison, was on his way to visit his grandmother with his 3-year-old sister and father when he was shot.
