Old Dominion’s men’s basketball began the Mike Jones era on Monday night with an 83-82 loss to Buffalo in front of 5,455 fans at Chartway Arena. The Monarchs trailed by 3 at the half and fell behind as many as 12 in the second half.

Jones, a star guard at ODU in the 1990s and a former assistant at Maryland and Virginia Tech, learned a thing or two about his team, fashioned largely of freshmen and transfers.

Tyson Dunn led the Bulls with 24 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds remaining, as they knocked off Old Dominion 83-82 on Monday night.
