The Sonic franchise is the rare movie series that’s gotten better and better with each subsequent sequel. In this case, the reason why is actually very simple: Each new one adds at least one new Little Guy. And the filmmakers have absolutely perfected making these Little Guys, translating them from their cartoony designs to “realistic” ones.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 gave fans what they wanted from the start of the film franchise in 2020: Shadow. He was teased at the end of the last movie and this third one does not waste time getting him onscreen.

Rouge the Bat was considered for all three Sonic films. For whatever reason, the writers have just never been able to make her work. Big the Cat almost made a cameo too... as a skeleton in the second movie.
