Interpreter Ippei Mizuhara sentenced to almost five years for defrauding Shohei Ohtani
SANTA ANA, Calif. — A federal judge sentenced Ippei Mizuhara, the former interpreter convicted of defrauding Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani, to five years in prison, at a sentencing hearing inside Orange County Superior Court on Thursday.
In addition to the 57-month, sentence, Ippei Mizuhara was also ordered to pay more than $18 million in restitution, with the majority going to Ohtani and the rest to the Internal Revenue Service.
