Need a speed control to reduce my chopsaw speed.
2008年3月9日 · Porter Cable, Milwaukee, Makita, etc all make cold cut saws designed to operate at the speeds dictated by carbide blades. I understand that Evolution (looks like a Porter Cable) also makes a 14" cold cut saw which Sears sells for in the $270 range. If it is indeed, a rebadged PC, it is a good saw. The cold cut saws are well worth the money.
setting 45 degrees on metal chop saws?
01-29-2008, 03:34 PM. I use a square to set my 45's or 90's. You cant rely on the settings on the saw and I snug up both bolts. I also never use the lock down handle with the bolts, it doesnt hold very well anyhow. The only trouble I have with mine is the blade flexing if I only want to cut off a 1/4" of material.

2007年8月4日 · Let the work cool down and then try again. Also make sure the work is secure and flat on the table. This gets worse with the more angle you put on the cut. The cheaper the blades you use the more this problem shows up. I mostly use the chop saw on 1/4 inch strap, light square tube and light round tube.

If you are off 5-10 degrees with a wood miter saw it will show up instantly, if you are 5-10 degrees off with a chop saw, it just means a wider gap that has to be filled with the welder.

2009年11月10日 · The abrasive chop saws and dry cut chop saws only cut 45's in one direction and not all that accurately either. Evolution Rage 3 metal cutting compound slide 10" dry cut miter saw is what I use for cutting accurate miters. For basic 90 cuts, I just use the abrasive chop saw. The Evolution is a great saw and only costs about $300.

For me, Milwaukee blades ($60) didn't do much more than 2-300 cuts on a 8" Metal Saw. They were noticeably duller after 100. Metal Devil blades by Morse did much better on the 8" ($45) than the Milwaukee's. Would be at least 250 cuts before they started cutting badly. I would average at least 300-400 cuts with them in general cutting.
